Sure, you’ve heard it before. Every 5-10-15 years, the Army comes out with a new version of MILES, and each one promises to be better than the last, and yet nothing really ever changes.
Until now.
TIS, the Training and Identification System, is a powerful training system providing realistic training anytime, anywhere, at a substantial cost savings over existing systems. It is comprised primarily of three pieces:
- A laser interrogator
- A series of 8 sensors
- A COTS smartphone
TIS is a modular system providing options so that the training drives how you use the technology, rather than the technology driving your training experience.
- Attach sensors using bluetooth and velcro or by running wires through the MOLLE
- Use blanks to trigger the shot or save your blanks and use a pressure-sensitive trigger pull
- Integrate with an existing cellular infrastructure for long-distance oversight or use in the middle of a field (or forest) with no infrastructure whatsoever
TIS is so accurate that it has operational uses.
Different parts of TIS are developed to different TRL levels. With the proper funding, the laser, sensor, and smartphone software can all be developed to TRL 7 or 8 in under 9 months.
